Featuring some of Seattle’s fiercest improvisers, Andy Coe on guitar, Evan Flory-Barnes on bass and D’Vonne Lewis on drums, the band recorded the album at The Royal Room and financed it in part through Kickstarter. He’s back this week and has lined up numerous shows with an incredible array of different bands. You can catch Chris with a new big band, with his quartet, with More Zero and Frieze of Life. Zubatto Syndicate – “Meccas Over Manhattan”
From the CD Zubatto Syndicate (self-produced)
Andrew Boscardin’s space-age big band has always looked for non-traditional performance opportunities. As much a rock band as a jazz band, Bosco tries hard to get the band in front of non-jazz audiences. He’s scored big this time, as the band will take the stage at Neumo’s on a Saturday night. He’s bringing along Reptet and Spekulation to round out a great triple bill. Let’s pack the place so the folks at Neumo’s will see that improvised music has a place on their stage!
    Upcoming show: Sat., Mar. 10th @ Neumo’s

    Reptet “Milky Shakes”
From the CD At the Cabin (Artists Recording Collective)
Reptet is a great band to be on the bill with Zubatto Syndicate. Their raucous and entertaining show will go great on the big stage at Neumo’s. And this will be the last time to see saxophonist Isaak Mills with the band for a while, as he is leaving town soon. This is a composition of trumpeter Samantha Boshnack with Mills, Chris Credit on alto, Nelson Bell on tuba, Tim Carey on bass and John Ewing on drums.
    Upcoming show: Sat., Mar. 10th @ Neumo’s

Dawn Clement – “Big Fat Blues”
From the CD Hush (Conduit Records)
Dawn Clement brings her trio with Jon Hamar on bass and Steve Korn on drums to the Creative Music Adventures Gallery for their great new Friday night series. They have a very cool performance space (in the old John’s Music building in Wallingford) with a grand piano and they’ve been putting on great shows weekly. We pulled out an old favorite from Dawn’s very first record featuring Geoff Cooke on bass and Jose Maritnez on drums.
Upcoming show: Fri., Mar. 9th @ CMA Gallery

    The Young Lizards – “Punjab”
From the CD Our Modern Lifestyle (Pony Boy Records)
The Young Lizards is a Seattle jazz super-group featuring Chris Fagan on sax, Ty Bailie on Hammond B3, Dave Peterson on guitar and Greg Williamson on drums. They will take the stage at Boxley’s in North Bend this week. It’ll be well worth the drive to hear them lay down their organ-drenched funky jazz. Check out this version of Joe Henderson’s great tune for a taste of what you’ll find.
    Upcoming show: Fri., Mar. 9th @ Boxley’s

See you in the clubs!
